Comparative study on photosynthetic capacity and growth in different flowing phase of four pomegranate cultivars

Abstract:ObjectiveIn order to explore the differences in flowering pomegranate varieties of photosynthetic capacity4 pomegranate cultivars were collected and studied.MethodsThe diurnal variation of photosynthesis and net photosynthetic ratel of four pomegranate cultivars‘Red pearls’‘Red agate’‘Sweet greenseed’and‘Tunisia’were studied under the condition of natural light intensity and controlled light. Indexes as net photosynthetic ratePn),intercellular CO2concentrationCi),stomatal conductanceGs),transpiration rateTrand photosynthetic physiological were measured and the photoreaction curve was fitted byright angle hyperbolic model.ResultsThe diurnal variation of photosynthetic rate of four varieties of pomegranate was a single peak curveand the maximum net photosynthetic rate of‘Red pearl’pomegranate andtuna pomegranate were higher than that of‘Red agate’pomegranate and‘Sweet green seed’pomegranate.The net photosynthetic rate of leaves under different photosynthetic active radiation was a smooth singlepeak curveand the maximum was‘Red pearl’>‘Red agate’>‘Sweet green seed’>‘Tunisia’so as the twophotosynthetic efficiencies. The net photosynthetic rate of four pomegranate cultivars presented as a singlepeak curveand the maximum net photosynthetic rate was‘Sweet green seed’>‘Red pearl’>‘Tunisia’>‘Red agate’. The net photosynthetic ratePnof four different pomegranate cultivars showed a single peakcurvewhile the net photosynthetic ratePnof the second crop showed a trend of rising first and then rising.ConclusionUnder the effective illuminationthe physiological indexes of‘Red pearls’and‘Sweet greenseeds’were higher than that of‘Tunisia’and the‘Red agate’.
