Abstract: Huyoutao 019 is a middle-ripening yellow nectarine cultivar bred by artificial pollination between ‘Huanxiang’ as female parent and ‘Huyoutao 018’ as male parent in 1999. In March of 2001, all the seedlings were planted with density of 2.0 m×3.0 m at fruit experimental field of Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Based on evaluation of main economic characters of fruits over 3 years, a seedling named‘Huyoutao 283’was selected out from these hybrid seedlings for its delish eating quality and stable yield. ‘Huyoutao 283’ was tested at two sites of Zhuanghang of Fengxian and Huinan of Pudong for regional adaptability in 2017, and it was finally named as Huyoutao 019 and got a certificate by the forest variety validation of Shanghai in 2021. The tree is middle vigorous, half-opening in canopy, and the sprouting and branching ability are moderate. The new branches are varied from green to dark-red, and the leaves are long elliptic-lanceolate with yellow-green color. The average length and width of leaf is 17.72 cm and 4.04 cm, while average petiole length of leaf is 1.01 cm. It has rose-like flower with five pink petals and five green to purple sepals. It has green style, yellow-green stigma, light pink filament and purple-red anther. The anther of this cultivar can produce a lot of yellow pollen, and it is self-fertile without bringing in pollen donation. The matured fruit is round with two symmetrical halves, and fruit shape index is 0.97-1.05. The top of the fruit is flat with slight shallow cavity and middle suture line. The peel is hairless and yellow background covered 25%-50% red blush on the surface when matured. The average fruit weight is 171.40 g, and maximum fruit weight can reach 361g under thinning fruit condition. The flesh is yellow, firm texture, moderate juice and covered with red anthocyanin nearby the stone. The stone is oval, brown and cling to the flesh. Fruit is good eating quality with average soluble solids content of 12.74% and average firmness of 13.52 kg·cm-2 at harvest. The bloom date of Huyoutao 019 normally ranged from late March to early April in Shanghai, and the flowering period could last 8-10 days, which was very similar to that of Huyoutao 019 and varied in past five years. The fruit ripened from July 12 to July 19 which 23-24 d later than ‘Huyoutao 018’, and fruit development period was 113-116 d, which differed in past five years in Shanghai. Fruit can be stored at 0℃ for cold storage and kept at room temperature for shelf-life. Both open center shape of three main branches and Y shape of two main branches are adopted in Shanghai, and spacing depends on planting objective. It has high fruit setting rate, and other pollination cultivar is not necessary for Huyoutao 019. Normally, dormant season pruning could be applied once a year, and growing season pruning could be applied twice or three times a year to balance tree vigor and shape. Thinning fruit should be done to improve fruit size and quality, and bagging fruit is recommended after thinning fruit and spraying both insecticide and fungicide. Manure can be applied in autumn, and chemical fertilizer can be applied in May and June. The drainage and irrigation system are important for this cultivar to avoid waterlogging and drought. The efficient and low residue chemicals should be selected to control diseases and pests to improve fruit commodity rate.
