【Objective】To explore the role of active oxygen in the softening process of persimmon fruit af-ter postharvest.【Methods】1-MCP was applied to investigate its effects on reactive oxygen species(ROS)content and scavenger enzyme activity in persimmon(Diospyros kaki Thunb.‘Mopanshi')fruit treatedwith CO2. The treatments included Control,CO2 and CO2+ 1-MCP.【Results】The results indicated thatthe treatment of CO2 led to rapidly loss of fruit firmness, the increase of respiration rate and ethylene re-lease rate, the quick accumulation of ·OH,O2·and H2O2 and the increase of SOD,POD,CAT and APXactivity. Compared with treatment of CO2,the combination of CO2+1-MCP could effectively keep the fruitfirmness, decrease respiration rate and ethylene release rate, delay the appearing timing of respiratorypeak and ethylene peak, reduce ROS accumulation rate and inhibit scavenger enzymes activity.【Conclu-sion】The results suggested that treatment of CO2 and CO2+1-MCP could result in the advance of the fruitsoftening and enhance ROS accumulation. 1-MCP could effectively reduce the ROS accumulation rate, delay softening of fruit and prolong shelf life.
