Superior production region of Chinese jujube in Xinjiang

【Objective】To clear the status of superior production region for Chinese jujube(Ziziphus jujuba Mill.)in Xinjiang,and to provide advice for jujube production with high quality,efficiency and safe-ty.【Methods】The categories of superior production region were analyzed based on the meteorological da-ta from 1993 to 2012 and the spatial analysis function of Arc GIS.【Results】The results indicated that theindex of superior production region division including the annual average temperature,frost-free period,the accumulated temperature over 10 ℃,the extreme minimum temperature,the days of ≤-20 ℃ andaridity index in growth period. Furthermore,the jujube production regions in Xinjiang were classified intofour grades: the best superior production region including Hetian district,Ruoqiang,Qiemo,Maigaiti,Shache and Shaya county;the superior production region including Kashi,Bachu,Yuepuhu,Jiashi,Shule,Wensu and Kuche county;the fitting region including Yecheng,Shufu,Tuokexun,Tulufan,Atushi and Xinhe county;the sub fitting region including Tashikuergan,Aktao,Baicheng county andHami district.【Conclusion】This study revealed the categories of superior production region for jujube inXinjiang and analyzed the suitable varieties in each region,respectively. The results provided theoreticalbasis for regional development of jujube with improved varieties.
