Breeding of a new ornamental Malus cultivar-‘Shuoguohaitang'

‘Shuoguohaitang'was derived from seedings of wild Malus baccata(L.)Borkh in northwestern Shanxi,it has compact canopy and beautiful crown;the flower is massive and colorful; the fruit looks bright,especially can stay on the tree until spring of the second year when young fruit grew out,so it has an excellent ornamental effect; the management of‘Shuoguohaitang'is simple,and it has higher cold and drought resistance; its fruit can be ate as fresh fruit or be made as dry food after maturity.‘Shuoguohaitang'it mainly used for landscaping,suitable for squares,gardens,courtyard,district,road and other landscaping,meanwhile,it could also be used as raw material for compact variety breeding,or be used as apple orchard special pollinizer,so it is a new Malus ornamental variety with beautiful flower and edible fruit.‘Shuoguohaitang'is adapted to the area with average annual temperature 6.5 to 12.5 ℃.
