A new peach cultivar‘Zhongtaoziyu'

Abstract: ‘Zhongtaoziyu' was selected by Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institue of China Agricultural Academy. Its parentage is‘Jinfeng'[‘(Hakuho'בMayfire') בShuguang']ב01-4-111'‘(Shuguang'בTianjinshuimi'). It was initially selected in 2001 for its red flesh, good comprehensive characters, but not good skin color. Through second artificial hybridization pollination, 365 plants were obtained, and then after two years of observation,‘Wen 07-2-24'was selected in 2010. It was examined and approved by Henan Tree Variety Registration Committe in 2015, over four years regional adaptability testing at four sites( including Yanling, Xihua, Xinxiang and Wenxian). The fruit shape is round. The average fruit weight is 180 g, the maximum fruit weight is more than 200 g. The skin of‘Zhongtaoziyu'is in full red color with dark red strips, short fuzz. The flesh is in white color, crispy and melting. The soluble solid content is 12%. The fruit is moderately juicy, sweet, rich in flavor, anthocyanin and other antioxidant functional substances.The stone is sticky. The fruit quality is excellent. The tree growth period is 260 days and the leaf defoliation ending date is November 10. The fruit development period is 75 days. The fruits mature in mid-June.Chilling requirement is 750-800 hours. The growth vigor of the tree is moderate with open tree gesture.Leaves are oblong-lanceolate. Petiole gland shape is reniform, about 2-4. The flower type is showy with pink petal type and pollen. Pollen compatibility is fertile. The proportion of long, middle and short fruit branch is 28.13%, 41.89% and 22.32%, respectively. The percent of overgrown bearing shoot is 2.14%,percent of spur branch bud is 5.5%. Multiple buds are very much, about 40.58%. It is suitable in the north of the Yangtze River area, the variety begins to bear fruits after planting three years. It has high yield potential, yield is over 2 500 kg in the flourishing. Spacing in the rows and spacing between rows arekinds of fruit branch can bear fruits, we must be strictly thinning. The fruit cavity depth is deeper, this variety should not bear fruits in the strong branch to prevent pre-harvest dropping. It is sensitive to multi-effect azole, so multi-effect azole use less in the production.
